Partner George Klidonas Named to Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers List
George Klidonas, a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and member of the firm’s Restructuring & Special Situations Practice, has been named to Turnarounds & Workouts’ list of Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers for 2021. The annual list recognizes a dozen restructuring lawyers in the United States under age 40 who have distinguished themselves as leaders in their practice.
Turnarounds & Workouts highlighted Klidonas’ significant matters in the last year, including representing:
- Mallinckrodt, a global specialty pharmaceutical company, in connection with its comprehensive chapter 11 restructuring of more than US$5.3 billion of funded debt, as well as opioid-related liabilities
- A senior creditors committee in relation to the rescue financing and subsequent €2.4 billion debt and equity restructuring of Swissport, a global aviation services business headquartered in Switzerland
- Superior Energy Services, Inc. and its affiliates in their chapter 11 cases in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas and restructuring more than US$1.3 billion of their funded debt
- Lonestar Resources US Inc. and its affiliates in their chapter 11 cases in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas and restructuring more than US$535 million of their funded debt
Klidonas represents companies, equity owners and sponsors, and committees and distressed investors, in acquisitions, out-of-court restructurings, and chapter 11 cases. He also advises boards of directors, board committees, and senior management of financially troubled companies on a range of fiduciary duty and corporate governance issues. Klidonas previously worked on secondment at KKR in the Special Situations Group where he advised the investment team on existing portfolio investments as well as new investments, including rescue financing, debtor-in-possession and exit financing, recapitalizations, equity investments, distressed trades, and other opportunistic investments. Earlier in his career, Klidonas was one of the top nominees nationwide to participate in the Next Generation Program at the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges.
