Leading Restructuring Partner to Join Latham & Watkins in Spain

April 13, 2021
Arrival of Pedro de Rojas marks the latest step in the strategic expansion of the firm’s leading global restructuring practice.

Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Pedro de Rojas will join the Madrid office as a partner in the Finance Department and the Restructuring & Special Situations Practice. Highly regarded in his field, de Rojas focuses on advising financial institutions, sponsors, and companies on a broad range of leveraged finance matters, including corporate refinancings, restructurings, and private equity investments.

“We are delighted to welcome Pedro to the firm,” said Ignacio Gómez-Sancha, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in Madrid. “We are focused on further establishing our market-leading transactional capabilities in Spain. Pedro’s substantial experience and outstanding market reputation will add tremendous additional firepower to our fast-growing practice.”

De Rojas has particular experience advising professional creditors, investors and their portfolio companies as well as distressed debtors and their administrators on a variety of complex transactional matters, with a focus on cross-border corporate restructurings.

“Pedro brings strong market connections and an excellent track record advising on some of the most high profile restructuring mandates in the Spanish market,” added Fernando Colomina, Local Department Chair of the Finance Department in Madrid. “His arrival will complement our existing M&A, private equity, capital markets, and finance capabilities in Spain, and he will play a major role in the continued expansion of our practice in both Spain and Europe.”

De Rojas will be the latest partner to join Latham’s leading global Restructuring & Special Situations Practice, following the recent announcement that Bruce Bell is to join the firm’s London office later this year.  Other recent partner arrivals include Jessica Walker in London, George Klidonas and Suzzanne Uhland in New York, and Alexandra Bigot in Paris.  The firm also promoted London counsel David Wallace, Washington, D.C. counsel Andrew Sorkin, and Hamburg counsel Ulrich Klokenbrink to the partnership this year.

De Rojas joins the firm from Linklaters. He completed a Bachelor of Laws and a Diploma in Business Administration at Universidad San Pablo, before completing an LLM at Tulane University. He was admitted to the Spanish Bar in 1994.
