Chirag Dedania recognized as one of New York’s most promising young lawyers.

Chirag Dedania, partner in the Project Development & Finance Practice and Chair of the New York Finance Department, has been named a Rising Star by the New York Law Journal as part of its annual Professional Excellence Awards. The awards recognize the New York region’s most promising young lawyers.

Since joining Latham, Chirag has become the go-to lawyer for the most complex project finance transactions in the energy and infrastructure space. His practice includes guiding banks, private equity and corporate sponsors, institutional investors, and private debt funds across the power, LNG, and renewables sectors, with a focus on commercial loans, syndicated loans, and private placements.

The independent panel of judges recognized Chirag’s track record of success, which includes navigating more than 40 transactions with a combined value of more than US$40 billion in the past two years, including advising Venture Global on the US$21 billion Plaquemines LNG project financing, which consisted of a US$13.2 billion phase one investment and US$7.8 billion phase two investment, one of the largest project financings ever and advising Apollo’s co-investors on an US$11 billion financing in connection with Intel Corporation and Apollo joint venture.

In addition to his market-leading transaction work, Chirag maintains an active pro bono practice. He regularly collaborating with the Lawyers Alliance for New York, a leading provider of business and transactional legal services for nonprofit organizations and social enterprises that focus on improving the quality of life in New York City neighborhoods, as well volunteering with Read Ahead, a reading-based mentoring program for elementary school students.
