Three Partners Named to Securities Docket’s 2024 Enforcement Elite List
Partners William Baker, Brian Kowalski, and John Sikora were named to Securities Docket’s 2024 Enforcement Elite list, recognizing the best securities enforcement defense counsel in the industry.
The list honors the defense specialists “critical to have on speed-dial should the SEC’s Division of Enforcement come calling.” According to Securities Docket, the list was guided by the question “[w]ho would you hire if you, your company, or a family member was faced with an important SEC enforcement matter?”
Bill Baker handles a broad range of business regulatory and corporate governance matters, including representing corporations, Board committees, financial institutions, and officers and directors in SEC and internal investigations. Prior to joining Latham, Bill was Associate Director of the Division of Enforcement at the SEC, where he worked for 15 years.
Former Global Vice Chair of the Litigation & Trial Department Brian Kowalski has spent nearly 20 years defending public companies, investment firms, auditors, and individuals in SEC enforcement matters, conducting internal investigations, and advising clients on complex compliance issues, including in connection with strategic transactions.
John Sikora represents companies and their officers and directors in SEC and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) enforcement investigations and examinations. Prior to joining Latham, he was an Assistant Director in the Chicago Regional Office and in the Asset Management Unit of the SEC’s Enforcement Division, a national specialized unit that focuses on misconduct by investment advisers, investment companies, and private funds.
