Trio of Latham Matters Honored with Top Prizes at GCR Awards

Mike Egge voted as Dealmaker of the Year for groundbreaking work and his dynamic leadership within Latham and the antitrust bar broadly.

Latham’s global Antitrust & Competition Practice advised on three award-winning matters announced during the 2023 GCR Awards in Washington, D.C., which annually honors the world’s leading antitrust lawyers, economists and the biggest cases based on votes collected from the global competition community. Latham teams were recognized for counseling Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) for the top prize of the night, Matter of the Year: Amazon/MGM; for advising Microsoft in Matter of the Year – Europe: Microsoft/Nuance Communications; and for representing one of the individuals in the high-profile Broiler Chickens multi-defendant litigation, which earned defense counsel Behavioural Matter of the Year: Americas.

Additionally, renowned practitioner and member of Latham’s Executive Committee Mike Egge was honored as the 2023 Dealmaker of the Year for, among other achievements, leading the charge for GRAIL in the historic Illumina/GRAIL merger, which has broken new ground in the US and around the world.

All told, Global Competition Review honored Latham-advised matters and individuals with more than a dozen GCR Award Finalist nods, including an incredible seven Merger Control Matter of the Year nods, two overall Matter of the Year honors, and three individual recognitions.
