Two London Partners Named in Financial News’ List of Rising Stars in European Finance
Latham & Watkins London partners Maarten Overmars and Katie Peek have been named among Financial News’ Rising Stars in European Finance 2024. The ranking recognizes talented young professionals from across financial, professional, and legal services. The rising stars are judged on three criteria: career progression given their age; stature of their mentors; and their ability to reach the top.
Overmars was recognized as having a busy 12 months, having been promoted to partner at Latham at the start of last year, and working on some standout deals since then: he co-led with David Walker and Jason Silvera Leonard Green & Partners’ investment in IRIS Software Group, which was one of the largest software buyouts in Europe in 2023; he also co-led the team advising Platinum Equity, on its acquisition of rum blending company E&A Scheer at the start of 2024.
Financial News celebrated Peek’s progression at Latham, having joined the firm as a trainee in 2012 and having been promoted to partner just over a year ago. The ranking also recognized Peek’s roles in high profile transactions, including advising EQT on the sale of Rimes to Five Arrows, the private equity arm of Rothschild & Co; and co-leading on a transaction for Urbaser, world leader in environmental solutions owned by Platinum Equity, on the sale of its Nordic business to Cube Infrastructure Managers.
