Two Partners Named M&A and Antitrust Trailblazers

Corporate partner Mark Gerstein and Litigation & Trial partner Peggy Zwisler have been named among the 2016 “Mergers and Acquisitions and Antitrust Trailblazers” in a special report by The National Law Journal. The report features top practitioners who have “moved the needle in M&A and antitrust law” and “are raising the bar to achieve favorable outcomes for their companies and clients.”

Gerstein, Global Co-chair of the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice, was recognized for his 30+ year career advising high-profile clients throughout the world on their most complex transactions, with particular expertise advising on sensitive corporate governance issues. The NLJ report featured his work advising the Special Committee of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Board of Trade in connection with its merger with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange—one of the most important financial mergers in Chicago—as well as his representation of Globe Specialty Metals, Orbitz, FMC Technologies and Sirona Dental Systems on complex domestic and cross-border deals during the past year totaling more than $30 billion in aggregate value.

Zwisler, a recent past Global Co-chair of the Antitrust & Competition Practice, was honored for her 40+ year career as a first chair trial lawyer, renowned for her ability to secure transformative victories for clients worldwide. The NLJ spotlighted her important victory for The London Metal Exchange—which established that the for-profit commodities business was immune from suit in the US as an “organ” of the UK government—as well as her trial wins for Hoover Company and F. Schumacher & Company much earlier in her career, when it was unusual for a woman to lead a trial team.
