Dr. Alexandra van Doren is an associate in the Chicago office of Latham & Watkins.

She works on a broad range of matters in the Litigation & Trial Department, with experience in complex commercial litigation and white collar investigations.

Alexandra represents clients such as high-profile corporations, large hospital systems, medical device manufacturers, companies exploring solutions for growing EV demands, waste disposal companies, and private equity firms. She has represented clients in litigation related to breach of contract, alternative dispute resolution, data security and information privacy, including the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), and class action defense. She has also represented clients in connection with governmental investigations regarding: the False Claims Act (FCA) and Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS) and has defended clients before the Department of Justice (DOJ), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Alexandra maintains an active pro bono practice, representing families seeking asylum, families in immigration proceedings, children with disabilities, children in guardianship disputes as a Guardian ad Litem, and survivors of police torture in post-conviction proceedings.

Before joining Latham, Alexandra was a PILI Fellow at Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. Additionally, she taught literature and film courses at the University of Michigan and University of Illinois, served as the managing editor of the Michigan Journal of Race & Law, served as the co-president of the Latinx Law Students Association, and was a student attorney at the Michigan Innocence Clinic.

Alexandra is the local leader of the Chicago Office’s Hispanic & Latin American Lawyers Group and a member of the Women Lawyers Group and Parent Lawyers Group.
