Caroline Hughes is an associate in the Chicago office of Latham & Watkins.

Ms. Hughes advises public and private companies and investment banks in a broad range of corporate and financing transactions. 

Prior to joining Latham full-time, Ms. Hughes was a summer associate in the firm’s Chicago office, where she served as an Emerging Companies Scholar.

Ms. Hughes joined the firm in 2023 after graduating from the University of Chicago Law School and Booth School of Business. While in law school, Ms. Hughes advised startups and entrepreneurs through the Arthur Kane Center’s Innovation Clinic and was a venture capital associate at the Polsky Center’s Innovation Fund Associates Program, performing due diligence on new ventures coming out of the University of Chicago ecosystem. She is a recipient of the Doctoroff Business Leadership Certificate and of the 2022 Illinois Women’s Bar Foundation Scholarship.

Prior to law school, Ms. Hughes worked as an e-commerce category specialist for a major retailer.

Ms. Hughes' experience includes advising:

  • The underwriters in connection with Viking Cruises’ upsized US$1.5 billion initial public offering  
  • Kohl's in its strategic alternative review process
  • Stoneridge, Inc. in connection with its corporate credit facility
  • Worthington Industries in the spin-off and listing of its steel processing business, Worthington Steel, on the New York Stock Exchange
