Catherine Sims is an associate in the Houston office of Latham & Watkins.

Catherine represents a variety of clients, including public and private companies and private equity funds, in a range of strategic corporate transactions.

Prior to joining Latham, Catherine worked as a judicial extern for the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. While in law school, she served as a member of the Wake Forest Law Review, the Associate Chief Justice of the Wake Forest Moot Court Board, and participated in the Wake Forest Community Law and Business Clinic.

Prior to law school, Catherine earned her BS in Finance and BS in Business Management from Virginia Tech.

  • Desktop Metal, a 3-D printing company, in multiple transactions including its pending sale to Nano Dimension
  • Aera Energy, CPPIB, and IKAV in Aera's US$2.1 billion all-stock merger with California Resources Corporation
  • R.R. Donnelley & Sons in its acquisition of the digital and print marketing business from Vericast
  • Equitrans Midstream in its merger with EQT Corporation to create a US$35 billion combined company
  • CenterPoint Energy in its pending US$1.2 billion sale of its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas local distribution businesses to Bernhard Capital Partners
  • Special Committee of the Board of Directors of Navios Maritime Holdings in the take-private sale of Navios Maritime to N Logistics Holdings
  • Houston Rockets in its acquisition of AT&T SportsNet Southwest, which re-launched as Space City Home Network
  • X-energy, a leading developer of small modular nuclear reactor and fuel technology, in its proposed US$2 billion de-SPAC business combination with Ares Acquisition Corporation
  • ExxonMobil in its collaboration with CF Industries and EnLink Midstream on the largest-of-its-kind emissions-reduction project in Louisiana to capture and permanently store up to two million metrics tons of CO2 annually
