Daniel Muheme is an associate in the Brussels office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Global Antitrust & Competition Practice.

Mr. Muheme advises clients on all aspects of EU and Belgian competition law and represents them before the European Commission and the Belgian Competition Authority.

Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Muheme worked as an associate at other global law firms in Brussels and gained experience as a research and teaching assistant in European and Belgian competition law at the University of Liège (Liege Competition and Innovation Institute – LCII). He has also worked as a legal intern at the Office of International Affairs of the US Federal Trade Commission and at the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission, where he focused on antitrust issues in the media sector (Mergers and Telecommunication Unit).

  • GRAIL in the European Commission’s review of its US$8 billion acquisition by Illumina, a landmark case concerning application of the referral powers under Article 22 of the EU Merger Regulation and associated gun-jumping, interim measures, restorative measures investigations, and litigation before the General Court and Court of Justice in Luxembourg
  • A car manufacturer in connection with an investigation by the European Commission into alleged anti-competitive agreements
  • A manufacturer in a cartel investigation before the European Commission in the styrene monomer cartel*
  • A multinational technology company in a Phase II investigation before the UK CMA*
  • A multinational technology company in connection with the European Commission's inquiry into the Internet of Things sector*
  • A multinational technology company in Articles 101 and 102 TFEU investigations before the European Commission and the KFTC*
  • A pharmaceutical company in an investigation by the UK CMA under Chapters I and II of the Competition Act and Articles 101 and 102 TFEU in relation to alleged excessive pricing practices*
  • Merck in obtaining global merger control clearances for its US$2.4 billion acquisition of Antelliq*
  • DPG Media on the sale of its Belgian mobile telecom subsidiary Mobile Vikings to Proximus Group*
  • DPG Media in connection with the creation of a joint venture with Telenet for their video streaming service “Streamz” on the Belgian market* 
  • Fluvius, the Belgian distribution network, in obtaining clearance from the Belgian competition authority for several mergers of its distribution network into larger regional entities*
