Liz Cheng is an associate in the San Francisco office of Latham & Watkins.

Liz advises public and private companies, officers, and directors in all aspects of securities and commercial litigation, including major motion practice and fact and expert discovery. She primarily advises clients in:

  • Securities class actions
  • Shareholder derivative litigation
  • Contract disputes
  • Other complex, high-exposure litigation

Liz represents a wide range of clients, from individuals to multinational corporations, that span numerous industries, including automotive, crypto, and technology. 

Liz also maintains an active pro bono practice focused on impact litigation and immigration. 

Liz earned her JD from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where she served as the managing editor of the Asian American Law Journal and co-chair of Berkeley’s Asian Pacific American Law Students Association.

During law school, Liz worked as a legal intern for the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Enforcement Division, and was a clinical student with the International Human Rights Law Clinic.

Prior to joining Latham, Liz worked as a forensics consultant at KPMG LLP in San Francisco.

Liz’s experience includes advising:

  • A technology services company in a post-merger securities class action
  • A national automotive company in parallel securities class actions filed in Arizona federal and state courts
  • A global crypto company on various securities class actions and derivative lawsuits
  • A leading entertainment company in a securities class action involving allegations of antitrust matters
