Gen Tan is an associate in the Singapore office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Fintech Industry Group.

Gen’s practice covers a range of fintech and financial regulatory matters, including advising on payment services, financial products, licensing requirements, cryptocurrencies and digital assets, and the application of financial regulations to novel uses of technology in finance and payments. He advises a variety of clients, including technology companies, broker-dealers, investment and retail banks, central banks, market infrastructure providers, investment managers, hedge funds, and private equity funds.

Gen also has expertise in data privacy and cybersecurity regulations, and advising on compliance with regulatory requirements relating to personal data.

  • Ares Management Corporation in its acquisition of Crescent Point Capital, a leading Asia-focused private equity firm
  • Abu Dhabi Global Markets (ADGM), an Abu Dhabi-based regulator, on a new Foundations Regulatory Regime to facilitate the issuance of blockchain tokens

  • A Chinese internet and digital media giant on payments, data privacy, and other matters relating to mobile applications and software in a number of jurisdictions globally
  • A Southeast Asian full-service flag carrier airline on its GDPR compliance project
  • A global professional services firm on its “best-in-class” privacy impact assessment (PIA) program globally, across its federated network to ensure all new global tools and programs are fully compliant with local privacy laws
