Hasala Ariyaratne is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins.

Hasala advises technology and communications companies on regulatory, copyright, and appellate matters.

Hasala maintains an active pro bono practice. He represents a veterans’ organization in a challenge to an agency rule limiting benefits. He also represents an incarcerated person in a habeas corpus petition.

Hasala graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center where he was a Technology Law & Policy Scholar, an executive editor of the American Criminal Law Review, and a student attorney at the Appellate Courts Immersion Clinic. He was a member of the Appellate Advocacy Division of the Barristers’ Council and a finalist at the 71st Annual Robert J. Beaudry Moot Court Competition. He was also a research assistant at the Supreme Court Institute.

He externed for Judge Patricia A. Millett at the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit during law school.
