Jacqueline Zhang is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins and is a member of the firm’s Environment, Land & Resources (ELR) and Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) practices. Jacqueline’s practice focuses on environmental, health, and safety (EHS) and ESG regulatory and transactional support for international corporate and project finance matters.
Jacqueline leverages her comprehensive understanding of global EHS and ESG frameworks to provide strategic guidance to multinational corporations, financial institutions, and project developers. Her expertise includes advising on compliance with international standards, such as the Equator Principles and the International Finance Corporation’s Environmental and Social Performance Standards.
With a strong foundation in transactional work, Jacqueline supports clients in the development, financing, acquisition, investment, and divestiture of energy and infrastructure projects worldwide. She is skilled in conducting thorough due diligence, assessing environmental liabilities, and negotiating complex agreements to facilitate seamless transactions. Her experience spans a variety of sectors, including renewable energy, oil and gas, industrial manufacturing, chemical, and technology.
In her role, Jacqueline assists clients in navigating complex regulatory and permitting regimes, and developing risk mitigation strategies for cross-border transactions. She is adept at identifying potential environmental liabilities and crafting innovative solutions to address them, and ensuring that clients meet both current and future regulatory requirements.
While in law school, Jacqueline served as a law clerk at the US Environmental Protection Agency (Air Enforcement Division); Office of the US Trade Representative (China Trade Enforcement); US Department of Justice (Environment and Natural Resources Division); and the DC Bar Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources Community.
