James W. Daniels retired from the partnership in November 2005. James practiced with the firm since 1970. His practice centered around general business, with a specialty in real estate. James advised numerous corporations and partnerships on an extremely broad range of legal issues facing businesses, from formation to wind-up and dissolution, including the representation of hotel developers, public utilities and commercial developers. He has also handled commercial leasing, specifically shopping center, industrial and office space leasing, and various financings for some of the area's largest developers (e.g., C.J. Segerstrom and Sons).
At the time of his retirement, James was a member of the State of California and Orange County Bar Associations, and of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, and a past member of the Commercial Leasing and Management of Real Estate Committees of the American Bar Association and the National Law Committee of the ICSC. He has been admitted before the US Supreme Court and the US Tax Court, and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. James also lectures regularly for groups such as the California Continuing Education of the Bar and ICSC.
