JD Marple retired from the partnership in May 2022. His practice focused on strategic counseling and negotiation advice with respect to technology transactions and outsourcing arrangements. JD regularly structured and negotiated a wide variety of transactions, including strategic alliances, joint ventures, intellectual property asset acquisitions, patent and other intellectual property licenses, manufacturing, supply and distribution agreements, and marketing and advertising agreements. His clients have ranged from startups to established public companies and their customers worldwide, particularly in the fields of e-commerce, Internet services, software, hardware, semiconductor design, and related industries. JD also represented numerous clients in US and international outsourcing deals ranging from traditional IT outsourcing arrangements to focused business process deals.

Prior to joining Latham, JD was an associate in the Technology Transactions Group at a Silicon Valley law firm, where he had been since 1999. Prior to graduating from law school, JD worked in Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist for the Business Software Alliance and as a legislative aide to Congressman Joe Moakley.
