Joe Benedetto is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Tax Department.

Joe received his JD from Michigan Law School, where he served as a member of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and received the Saul L. Nadler Memorial Award for outstanding work in courses related to commercial and corporate law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, majoring in Accounting and Finance.

Before his legal career, Joe practiced as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the audit practice of an international accounting firm.

Joe's experience includes advising:

  • Howard Hughes Holdings in its tax-free spinoff of its Seaport Entertainment division into a separate public company
  • Hersha Hospitality Trust in its US$1.4 billion acquisition by KSL Capital Partners
