John Scrudato, Director of Artificial Intelligence and Innovation, leads the firm’s strategy for identifying and developing AI-driven software solutions that address the specific needs of Latham lawyers and professional services teams.
He leads the firm’s machine learning team and innovation attorneys to evaluate existing products, determine when to build custom solutions, and ensure that new technologies integrate seamlessly into legal workflows.
He has collaborated with Latham’s AI Task Force and the Training and Career Enhancement (TACE) Committee to develop Latham’s AI Academy, a first-of-its kind program in the legal industry to equip lawyers to navigate the significant changes that AI will bring to business across industries and around the globe.
John, a passionate advocate for open source and open technological innovation in the legal industry, is an active member of the Open Cap Table Coalition, a group of law firms, equity management providers, and other startup ecosystem players, aimed at improving the interoperability, transparency, and portability of startup cap table data. He chairs the industry group’s Technical Working Group, which is leading the development and maintenance of the Open Cap Format (OCF) standard.
John brings a multidisciplinary perspective to his work at the intersection of law and technology. He draws on prior experience as a Latham innovation attorney and brings a passion for unlocking the potential of existing platforms, spurring rapid innovation, and ultimately improving the delivery of legal services for clients and practitioners alike.
Prior to joining Latham, John held positions at several law firms, including Gunderson Dettmer, and Covington & Burling.
