Josh Ji is a member of Latham’s Commercial & IP Litigation Practices. He is also currently serving as a Global Leader for Latham’s Asian & Middle Eastern Lawyers Group.
Josh represents a wide range of clients, from startups and Fortune 100 companies to sovereign wealth funds, in high-stakes disputes. He has first-chair experience handling all stages of litigation, including as lead trial counsel, and focuses his practices primarily on the following areas:
- Breach of contract
- Business torts (e.g., tortious interference, fraud, unfair competition)
- Trademark/trade dress infringement
- Trade secret misappropriation
- Copyright infringement and ownership disputes
- False/misleading advertising
Additionally, Josh has expertise in advising clients across many industries (e.g., esports/gaming, retail/fashion, healthcare/medical, as well as various tech companies) on best practices and strategies for branding (or rebranding) through trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement.
Josh graduated with honors from the UC Irvine School of Law, where he was co-editor-in-chief of the Law Review, a teaching assistant for the Lawyering Skills program, and a research assistant to Vice Dean Christopher Whytock. He received the Faculty Award for obtaining the highest grade in the Civil Procedure course, and his Law Review note analyzing a novel issue of civil procedure has been cited by American Jurisprudence (Am. Jur.) and the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Prior to joining Latham, Josh was a litigation associate at another leading international law firm. He also served as a judicial extern to the Hon. Josephine L. Staton, US District Judge for the Central District of California.
