Julia Stapelfeld is a counsel in the firm’s Finance Department and a member of the Banking Practice of Latham & Watkins’ London office.

Her experience spans more than 10 years advising on all aspects of high-profile, large-scale leveraged finance transactions, including advising on public-to-private takeovers, refinancings, and add-on financings. More recently, Julia focuses on advising sponsor-owned portfolio companies and corporate borrowers on a wide range of matters relating to their financings.

Julia’s representative transactions include advising:

  • Various sponsor-owned portfolio companies and corporate borrowers in relation to, among others, ancillary facilities, add-on financings, add-on acquisitions, JV investments, disposals, compliance with regular and ad hoc reporting obligations, restructurings, amendment and waiver processes, guarantor accessions, and debt repayments
  • Lenders in relation to the US$17.5 billion financing of Blackstone’s, Carlyle’s, and CPPIB’s bid for ThyssenKrupp’s elevator business*
  • Lenders financing the £1.27 billion public-to-private takeover of Ei Group by Stonegate, a TDR-owned portfolio company*
  • Lenders on the LBO financing for the public-to-private takeover of Koninklijke Wessanen, a leading healthy and sustainable food company*
  • Lenders in relation to the post-IPO revolving credit facility for Teamviewer, a Permira-owned portfolio company*
  • Lenders on the refinancing of the debt of Wittur, a Bain Capital-owned portfolio company*
  • Lenders financing the £3.2 billion acquisition by EQT of Galderma, Nestle’s health care business*
  • Lenders financing the acquisition by Carlyle of Comdata Group, an Italian service provider, and thereafter advising the banks on multiple add-on acquisitions*
  • Hg on the financing of its acquisition of the Access Group, a British software solutions business*
