Maria Loudjeva is an associate in the Brussels office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Global Antitrust & Competition Practice.

Ms. Loudjeva advises multinational companies on EU competition law with a particular focus on merger control, abuse of dominance, cartel defense, and State aid.

Prior to joining Latham, Ms. Loudjeva worked as an antitrust associate in the Brussels and London offices of another leading international law firm. She also was a trainee at the Directorate-General for Competition at the European Commission.

Ms. Loudjeva’s experience includes advising:

  • Farfetch in the expansion of its luxury new retail partnership, with an agreement for Farfetch to acquire a 47.5% stake in YOOX Net-a-Porter (YNAP) and for Richemont and YNAP to each adopt Farfetch Platforms Solutions
  • Aon in its planned US$30 billion acquisition of Willis Towers Watson
  • Leading eyewear manufacturer EssilorLuxottica in its acquisition of global retailer GrandVision
  • Novelis in its US$2.6 billion acquisition of Aleris Corporation, a competing global supplier of rolled aluminum products
  • Specialty chemicals manufacturer Nouryon (formerly Akzo Nobel Specialty Chemicals) in its acquisition of the leading carboxymethyl cellulose manufacturer, CP Kelco
  • Hyundai in its autonomous driving vehicle joint venture with Aptiv
  • A capacitor manufacturer in the European Commission (EC) cartel investigation into the electrolytic capacitor market*
  • A global manufacturer of metal packaging in the EC cartel investigation into the metal packaging market*
  • Several IT and media companies as complainants and third parties in the EC investigation of Google’s abuse of dominance practices*
  • An airline on obtaining merger control clearance in relation to its acquisition by International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG) before the European Commission*
  • An airline in relation with the CMA’s merger assessment of its wet lease arrangement with another airline*
  • An interested third-party in the Siemens/Alstom merger investigation*
  • A plastic packaging manufacturer in relation with its acquisition by a competitor*
  • Multinational investment funds regarding the merger control requirements for their planned investments*
