Marissa Perry is an associate in the Chicago office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Litigation & Trial Department.

Ms. Perry counsels public companies and their boards of directors in high-stakes securities class actions and other complex commercial lawsuits in both federal and state court. She has experience representing clients at both the trial and appellate level. She also defends clients in connection with investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission and US Department of Justice.

Ms. Perry maintains an active pro bono practice and has represented survivors of sex trafficking and domestic violence.

Prior to joining Latham, Ms. Perry was an associate at an international law firm and clerked for Judge Diana E. Murphy of the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. While in law school, Ms. Perry was a contributing editor to the Michigan Law Review. Between undergrad and law school, she conducted research on post-World War II trials as a Fulbright Scholar in Germany.

  • Sotera Health Company in a putative class action alleging securities fraud in the Northern District of Ohio related to statements it made about its ethylene oxide sterilization processes and related litigation
  • NextGen Healthcare in securing a complete defense jury verdict in the first holder’s claim to go to trial in the US in nearly 90 years, recognized by the Daily Journal as a Top Verdict of 2022
  • An investment management firm and two of its top executives in litigation filed in the Northern District of Illinois in which the SEC has alleged the defendants improperly valued a portfolio of structured notes
  • A tech manufacturer and several current and former directors, officers, and employees in an SEC investigation
  • Directors and officers in a securities class action related to accounting and disclosure issues
  • A public company in derivative litigation
  • A fitness industry client in a DOJ criminal investigation
