Melissa Alwang retired from the partnership in December 2024. She was a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Finance Department and the Banking Practice. Melissa has decade-long experience representing clients in market leading transactions across a broad array of industries, such as industrials, technology, healthcare, and consumer.
She primarily handled the representation of major financial institutions in leveraged finance transactions, including international financings, acquisition financings, debtor-in-possession and exit financings, margin loan financings, and asset-based facilities.
Melissa handled a variety of transactions for institutions such as J.P. Morgan, Barclays, Credit Suisse, Citibank, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, and Deutsche Bank.
She is recommended by Chambers USA, Chambers Global, and The Legal 500. Clients specifically praise her experience in multi-jurisdictional deals and note her knowledge of the European and Asian markets.
At the time of her retirement, Melissa was a member of the firm’s Auction Intake and Income Partner / Counsel Review Committees, and a former Vice Chair of the firm’s Associates Committee.
