Molly Whitman is a knowledge management lawyer for Latham & Watkins’ Privacy & Cyber interdisciplinary practice and is based in the Los Angeles office.

Molly is a skilled data privacy and cybersecurity expert, with broad experience in litigation, regulatory investigations and enforcement actions, incident response, and compliance counseling. A seasoned commercial litigator, Molly has represented clients in high-stakes contentious matters across industries such as technology, e-commerce, finance, telecommunications, insurance, and manufacturing.

Molly’s representative matters include:

  • Developing a global privacy compliance framework as a secondee to a Fortune 50 tech company
  • Advising on data-related security incidents, including incident response, risk management, regulatory investigations, and remediation
  • Defending a financial company in a nationwide privacy and data breach class action, including CCPA, invasion of privacy, CMIA, negligence, and breach of contract claims 
  • Conducting a global, enterprise-wide data privacy and protection and cybersecurity risk review for a leading Fortune 500 company

Prior to joining Latham, Molly was counsel at another AmLaw 100 law firm in the litigation practice. 

Molly earned her JD at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where she served as an associate managing editor of the SMU Law Review. Molly holds a CIPP/US certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
