Dr. Nikolaus Lorenz retired from the partnership in December 2013. He came to Latham in 2001, when the firm joined with the German law firm Schön Nolte. Since then, he was a valuable member of the Corporate and Finance Departments, with a practice that focuses on leveraged finance and representing lenders and borrowers on syndicated financings of cross-border acquisitions.

Nikolaus advised German and international banks and investors on syndicated financings of cross-border acquisitions, including financings of complex real estate transactions. Furthermore, he assisted clients in recapitalizations and restructurings.

In The Legal 500 EMEA 2011 he was listed as a recommended lawyer for bank lending. JUVE 2013/2014 recommended him for real estate financings.

At the time of his retirement, Nikolaus was a member of the International Bar Association and the German-American Lawyers Association.

He was a co-publisher of IPMA Monitor, the quarterly for the members of the London International Primary Market Association, for many years. He has further published numerous articles as a co-author in The In-House Lawyer and lectured on mergers and acquisitions at Hamburg University for many years.
