Ruth Davila is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins.

She advises clients on a broad range of patent litigation matters.

Ruth received her JD from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School, which she attended part time while working as a patent agent at a small patent law firm and then as an intellectual property and technology analyst at Latham. As a patent agent, she prosecuted patent applications in a wide range of technology areas including wireless communications, consumer electronics, automotive and aerospace technologies, medical device technologies, and various software technologies. 

Prior to attending law school, Ruth served as a nuclear surface warfare officer in the US Navy.

As an IP and technology analyst at Latham, Ruth’s experience included advising on technical matters for:

  • A leading global technology company in a patent case involving location-based encryption and access control technology
  • A construction materials manufacturing company in a patent case involving gypsum and viscoelastic glue products
  • A garage door manufacturing company in a patent case involving garage door operation and control technology
