Shridhar Jayanthi is an associate in the Boston office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Department and the IP Litigation Practice Group.

Shridhar represents clients primarily in IP and patent litigation matters. He is a certified Patent Practitioner with the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) and has extensive experience as a patent agent. 

He represents both plaintiff and defendants in actions pending before federal district courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the International Trade Commission (ITC). Shridhar has experience handling intellectual property matters covering consumer devices, medical devices, semiconductors, and wide array of software systems (i.e., blockchain, network management, image processing, enterprise software). 

Shridhar holds a Computer Engineering degree from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (Brazil) and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. Prior to law school, his research focused on the application of control systems theory to synthetic biology.

Shridhar has represented clients on IP matters including:

  • Successful defense of a consumer appliance manufacturer accused of infringing “smart appliance” patents in ITC litigation (complaint withdrawn prior to hearing)
  • Representation of a software corporation in multiple non-practicing entity lawsuits
  • Representation in a multi-district patent litigation lawsuit involving infringement claims and counter-claims covering nearly 20 patents (the case settled at the end of discovery)
  • Representation of electronics and medical device clients regarding patent prosecution
