Stephen Burgin retired from the partnership in June 2009. While a partner in our Los Angeles office, Stephen was an expert in estate planning, exempt organizations and charitable planning, and trust and probate matters. He had primary responsibility for the estate planning done by the firm for its financially substantial clients and, along with other partners of the firm, was responsible for private foundation and public exempt organization representation.
Stephen published articles for the UCLA Law Review and Practicing Law Institute. He lectured on estate planning, charitable giving and personal tax matters under the auspices of private businesses and charitable organizations, including the Practicing Law Institute, the Wilshire Estate Planning Council, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Century City Bar Association, the Los Angeles Red Cross, the Los Angeles Cancer Society, Southern California Presbyterian Homes and the University of California at Los Angeles.
Stephen is a former member and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Deferred Giving Committee of the Los Angeles Red Cross and a former member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Deferred Giving and Making Strides Committees of the Los Angeles Cancer Society.
