Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that Anupama (Anu) Yerramalli has joined the firm’s New York office as a counsel in the Restructuring & Special Situations Practice within the Finance Department. She guides debtors, official and ad hoc committees, bondholders, lenders, and other creditors and investors in both in- and out-of-court restructurings.

Yerramalli is the latest addition to Latham’s growing global Restructuring & Special Situations Practice. In the last two years the firm has added highly regarded New York partners George Davis and Andrew Parlen, Los Angeles partner Jeffrey Bjork, London partners Yen Sum and Jennifer Brennan, and Washington, D.C., counsel Andrew Sorkin.

“Anu joins a vibrant and growing restructuring team in New York and globally that delivers terrific results for clients,” said Michèle Penzer, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in New York. “Anu’s experience representing prominent companies and creditors in complex restructurings strengthens our capabilities, and we are delighted to welcome her to the firm.”

Named a Rising Star by Law360, Emerging Leader by M&A Advisor, and an American Bankruptcy Institute 40 Under 40 honoree in its inaugural class, Yerramalli regularly advises leading domestic and multinational corporations in their restructuring initiatives spanning a range of industries, including healthcare, shipping, telecommunications, energy, and manufacturing. Yerramalli also draws on her broad corporate governance and liability management experience to help companies navigate a variety of sensitive issues that arise in connection with high-stakes insolvency matters. Yerramalli complements her company-side practice with representing creditors across the capital structure, including banks, special situation lenders, and asset acquirers in distressed situations.

George Davis, Global Chair of Latham’s Restructuring & Special Situations Practice, said: “Anu is a well-regarded and versatile practitioner with a strong track record of providing restructuring, distressed acquisition, and investment advice to constituents as they develop business strategies. Her arrival adds depth to our bench as we continue to steer market-leading companies through their financial and operational challenges.”

“I’m thrilled to join Latham’s talented and fast-growing restructuring team that is well-known for its commercial and creative approach to building consensus and driving to value-maximizing outcomes,” said Yerramalli. “Few firms have Latham’s combination of a global platform, top-tier capabilities across practices, and collaborative culture, and I look forward to counseling our clients as they achieve their business objectives.”

Yerramalli joins Latham from Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP. She received her JD from St. John’s University School of Law and clerked for US Bankruptcy Judge Donald H. Streckroth of the District of New Jersey. She received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania.
