Saavan Shah is an associate in the Corporate department of Latham & Watkins’ London office. Saavan advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and general corporate matters.

Saavan trained in the firm’s London office, gaining experience in corporate, acquisition and leveraged finance, and restructuring transactions. Saavan also spent time on secondment at The Carlyle Group, where he assisted on a range of corporate transactions across the world.

Saavan’s experience includes advising:

  • Vitol on the acquisition of Engen Limited by Vitol’s wholly owned subsidiary, Vivo Energy, from Petronas and The Phembani Group
  • Assala Energy, a portfolio of The Carlyle Group, on the acquisition of Total Gabon’s remaining equity in the Rabi-Kounga Block, located in southern Gabon, together with ongoing operational advice to Assala
  • Iberdrola on its sale of a 40% stake of East Anglia, a UK-based provider of energy services, to Green Investment Group
  • Energy Capital Partners, an energy-transition infrastructure investor, on the £341 million sale of Triton Power to Equinor and SSE Thermal
  • EIG on its US$19 billion joint venture with Repsol Upstream, a newly-formed global oil and gas exploration and production company
  • Ara Partners on its investment in its partnership to create CycleØ Group, a UK-based biomethane platform, through the acquisition of FNX Liquid Natural Gas, a Spain-based company specializing in biogas capture and conversion via both compression and liquefaction technologies for vehicular and industrial applications
  • The Carlyle Group on the US$825 million acquisition of Occidental’s entire onshore portfolio in Colombia
  • The Carlyle Group on its acquisition from Occidental Petroleum of its onshore assets in Colombia to for total consideration of approximately US$825 million
