Latham & Watkins and ATX Open Host the Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area at Start of 2024 Tournament
At the start of the second annual ATX Open, members of the Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area participated in tennis-based agility drills led by Hologic WTA Tour players, giving them a better understanding of the game of tennis, from court rules to skills training. The clinic was followed by a meet and greet with competing player Anastasija Sevastova, a 4-time titlist on the WTA Tour.
Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area CEO Zenae Campbell said, “The ATX Open is a terrific event and for the kids, it’s a day they won’t soon forget. The kids had the chance to learn from the professionals, and experience first-hand the excitement of the tournament here in Austin. And we even have some aspiring tennis players in our Club now!”
The day culminated in the teens watching an exhibition doubles match featuring ATX Open players Peyton Stearns, who previously led the University of Texas to back-to-back NCAA team titles, and Arianne Hartono, against Julia Riera and Martina Capurro.
"As the championship sponsor of the ATX Open, we are proud to play a supporting role to the young champions who are the heart and future of our community,” said Samer Zabaneh, Austin Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins and Past Chairman of the Board of the Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area. “This weekend’s clinic embodies the spirit of dedication, perseverance, and teamwork that is inspiring and motivating to everyone. At the start of another exciting ATX Open for our wonderful city, it's important to remember that this event is not just about the competition, but also about encouraging the next generation, both on and off the court.”
