Agnès de Fortanier is an associate in the Paris office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Antitrust & Competition Practice. Ms. de Fortanier advises clients on EU and French competition and regulatory law.

Ms. de Fortanier represents international companies before the European Commission (EC) and the French Competition Authority (FCA) in merger control proceedings, cartels and abuse of dominance investigations, and coordinates multijurisdictional merger filings for global transactions.

Prior to joining Latham, Ms. de Fortanier worked as an intern at an international law firm and in the compliance team of PAI Partners. 

Ms. de Fortanier’s recent experience includes advising:

  • PAI Partners and its portfolio company Areas for their acquisition of the motorway catering business of competitor Group Sighor (French Phase 1 with remedies)
  • L'Oréal in obtaining global antitrust clearances for its US$2.5 billion acquisition of Aēsop, a global luxury beauty brand
  • An energy company in obtaining global antitrust clearances for LNG projects
  • A confidential client on dawn raids conducted by the French Ministry in relation to suspected cartel between competitors in the context of tenders in the industrial cleaning sector in France
  • An engineering group in a cartel investigation regarding information exchange, price-fixing, no-poaching practices following a dawn raid conducted by the FCA
