Aliénor Estrade is an associate in the Paris office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Department. She primarily advises clients on EU and French competition and regulatory law.

Aliénor represents international companies before the European Commission (EC) and the French Competition Authority in merger control proceedings, and coordinates multijurisdictional regulatory filing processes for global transactions, including Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and the new EU Regulation on Foreign Subsidies (FSR). She also advises clients in abuse of dominance and cartel investigations, state aid, as well as civil antitrust damages litigation.

Prior to joining Latham, Aliénor worked at another international law firm for three years.

Aliénor has recently represented: 

  • Orange on a 50:50 joint venture with MasMovil, valued at €18.6 billion, to combine their Spanish businesses (EC Phase II clearance with remedies) 
  • SK Capital in obtaining global antitrust clearance for its acquisition of Seqens 
  • ArchiMed’s portfolio company, Natus Medical Incorporated, in obtaining FDI clearance for its acquisition of Micromed Holding SAS 
  • Confidential foreign investors in obtaining FDI review approvals and negotiation conditions with relevant governmental authorities
  • Global companies in a variety of sectors on the implementation of the EU Regulation on Foreign Subsidies (FSR)
  • AkzoNobel in obtaining global antitrust clearance for its acquisition of Mapaero*
  • TDF in its victory before the Paris Court of Appeal against a decision by the French Competition Authority refusing to revise remedies 
  • A confidential client in the cartel investigation by the French Competition Authority into nuclear engineering services
  • Amadeus, the #2 European software company, in its defence against an Article 102 complaint by Optionizr before the French Competition Authority, obtaining the dismissal of the request for interim measures*
  • A television channel before the Paris commercial court in proceedings for alleged abuse of dominant position against a distributor*
  • A pool of banks in relation to the Areva restructuring with respect to state aid law*
