David Shin is an associate in the Singapore office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Finance Department.

Mr. Shin’s practice focuses on project development and finance as well as other project-related transactions, particularly in the power, renewables, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

Mr. Shin joined the firm in 2019 from another leading international law firm.

  • Coal-fired Power Plant Project, Kosovo – the sponsor on a project development of a coal-fired power plant in Kosovo*
  • Refinery Project, Bahrain – the sponsor on a project financing of a refinery in Bahrain*
  • Gas-fired Power Plant, UK – the lenders on a project financing of a gas-fired power plant in England*
  • Offshore Windfarm Sale, UK – the seller on a disposal of all of its interest in an offshore windfarm project in England*
  • Waste-to-Energy Project, UK – the lenders on a holdco financing relating to an energy from waste facility in England*
  • Biofuel Plant Project, Ireland – the sponsor on the project development and construction of a 16.7MWe virgin biomass CHP plant, drying facility, and biofuel production plant in Ireland*
  • Combined Cycle Power Plant Project, Jamaica – the sponsors and the borrower on the project financing (in secured credit facility and secured indexed bonds) of a c.190MW combined cycle gas turbine power station in Jamaica*
  • The lenders on term loan facilities, concurrent with a US$1 billion bond offering, for Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited, a provider of energy solutions
  • The sponsors on an amendment to a term loan facility for Hongkong United Ascend Limited, an electronic component and hardware company, to refinance existing debt
  • The lenders on a term loan facility for Alvogen Emerging Markets Holding Limited, a pharmaceutical company focused on developing, manufacturing, and selling generic, brand, OTC, and biosimilar products
  • The sponsors in relation to refinancing of existing senior debt of an electricity distribution company, with a mixture of term, bond, institutional, and private placement debt*
  • A bank in relation to a sale of a portfolio of derivatives linked to 114 project finance transactions*
  • A developer in amending and consolidating original agreements in relation to the design, construction, financing, operation, repair, and maintenance of a high-speed channel tunnel rail link*
  • The lenders on the term loan financing in connection with the construction of a car radial tire plant in the United States
