Falko Schmidt is an associate in the Hamburg office of Latham & Watkins. He practices in our Litigation & Trial Department and is a member of the International Arbitration and Complex Commercial Litigation practice groups.

He advises and represents clients in national and international arbitration proceedings and in litigation before German courts. In addition, he advises German and foreign companies as well as individuals in all areas of dispute resolution, especially in commercial arbitration and complex commercial litigations. Mr. Schmidt also counsels and represents international clients in all matters relating to the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) and other issues related to supply chain legislation.

Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Schmidt gained experience in other leading international commercial law firms in the areas of arbitration and litigation. 

Mr. Schmidt graduated from the University of Hamburg, where he specialized in maritime commercial law and international arbitration law. 
He pursued his legal clerkship in Hamburg and also spent time working in Berlin at the German Bundestag. 

Throughout his academic and professional training, he actively participated in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.

Currently, Mr. Schmidt is an associate and concurrently working on his doctoral thesis on the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act at the University of Hamburg.

He is an active member of DIS40, the Hamburg Bar Association, and the Vis Moot Court Alumni Universität Hamburg e.V.
