Judith Jacop is an associate in Latham & Watkins’ Frankfurt office and a member of the Global Antitrust & Competition Practice.

Judith advises clients on all areas of EU and German competition law. Prior to joining Latham as an associate, Judith gained experience as an academic assistant at a chair of competition law (Lehrstuhl Professor Dreher) and as a legal trainee in the competition law division of the Frankfurt Regional Court.

She also worked as a law clerk in the Antitrust & Competition Practice and the Litigation Department at the firm's Frankfurt and New York offices. Through an internship at the German Federal Cartel Office, she gained valuable insight into the workings of the antitrust units at the German Federal Cartel Office.

  • Meta in the abuse of dominance probe by the German Federal Office (FCO) and subsequent proceedings before the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf, the Federal Court of Justice and before the European Court of Justice, as well as in other German and European antitrust matters and investigations
  • An international payment provider in an abuse of dominance investigation by the FCO, challenging two of our client's merchant-facing terms of service
  • Another international payment provider in its defense against damage claims before German courts following the EC investigation into multilateral interchange fees
  • A global technology company in an investigation by the FCO regarding the client’s paramount significance for competition across markets
  • A manufacturer of bags and luggage in an investigation by the German Federal Cartel Office concerning resale price maintenance, leading to the closing of the investigation with a significant reduction in fine; also in structuring an antitrust compliant online and offline sales concept, specifically vertical questions
  • A global leading food producer in ongoing compliance questions, specifically vertical agreements
  • An international technology company on possible cartel investigations in a number of product markets
  • An international sports event organizer on antitrust issues involving its sponsorship arrangements
  • LANXESS on the creation of the second largest B2B chemical trading platform CheMondis, including advising on applicable platform regulation and compliance with Art. 101/102 TFEU antitrust principles

  • EQT / OMERS on all antitrust aspects of the acquisition of Deutsche Glasfaser group from KKR 
  • Various financial and strategic investors in German, EU, and multi-jurisdictional merger control proceedings, e.g., obtaining global antitrust clearance for Hytera Communications Corporation's acquisition of Sepura plc, a UK-based manufacturer of Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) digital mobile radios and LTE system solutions; the deal was granted German approval after a Phase II Investigation
