Maddalen Martín is an associate in the Madrid office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s global Antitrust & Competition Practice.

Maddalen assists international private companies with competition matters, including merger control in the EU and Spain, as well as the control of potential anticompetitive agreements.

Prior to joining Latham, Maddalen worked at a Spanish legal boutique specializing in EU and Spanish competition law, where she developed strong expertise in the private enforcement of competition law. She also worked as an academic assistant at the University of Geneva and as a trainee at the European Parliament and at a legal boutique specializing in EU civil servants’ law in Brussels. 

Maddalen’s experience includes: 

  • Representing envelope manufacturers in claims for damages resulting from anticompetitive conduct in court in Spain* 
  • Representing a manufacturer of absorbent products in a claim for damages resulting from anticompetitive conduct in court in Spain*
  • Advising a leading Spanish company in the defense and air traffic sectors on anticompetitive concerns in agreements with a competitor*
  • Advising a company on the transfer of footballers’ image rights to be used for NFTs*
  • Assisting a sports association in civil proceedings instituted for breach of Articles 101 and 102 TFEU*
