Matthew Unsworth is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Department.

Matthew has a broad practice within White Collar Defense & Investigations, advising companies and individuals on litigation and enforcement proceedings, sensitive internal investigations, and high-profile public inquiries. Matthew is also experienced in providing transactional due diligence support and advising on compliance issues.

Matthew maintains an active pro bono practice focused on advising individuals in the criminal justice system and assisting charities in understanding their legal obligations.

Matthew's experience includes advising:

  • A prominent consortium of companies in relation to a wide-ranging multi-jurisdictional SFO investigation, as well as liaising with numerous other UK and foreign regulators
  • A high-profile shipping company in relation to a highly reported civil investigation by the Insolvency Service
  • An online retail company in relation to an internal investigation following allegations made by a whistleblower
  • A leading global investment bank on an investigation by the PRA regarding regulatory reporting failures
  • A UK company in relation to proceedings with the Financial Conduct Authority, following potential insider trading
