Ruchi Sharma advises registered investment advisers and private fund advisers on a range of complex legal, regulatory, and compliance matters across the asset management industry.  

Ruchi is a corporate associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Investment Funds and Private Equity Practices.

She advises clients on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters in connection with:

  • SEC examinations, investigations, and enforcement proceedings;
  • The acquisition and sale of registered investment advisers;
  • SEC registration of private equity sponsors and other registered investment advisers under the Investment Advisers Act;
  • Investment adviser status analysis under the Advisers Act and related regulatory and compliance considerations, such as the New Marketing Rule.

Before joining Latham, Ruchi was an associate in the Investment Management Regulatory and Compliance Group at a leading law firm. She regularly advised private fund clients, including private equity funds, hedge funds, and alternative investment funds, on regulatory matters, including guidance on SEC registration, examination, and enforcement matters, structuring of compliance programs, and advice in connection with the structuring of acquisition of other investment managers. Prior to Schulte Roth & Zabel, Ruchi was an associate at J.P.Morgan Chase & Co.

Ruchi's practice focuses on securities regulation with an emphasis on regulatory matters related to investment advisers and private equity funds.
