    Whitney represents public companies, officers, directors, and special committees in:

    • Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement actions

    She guides clients through the full litigation life cycle in federal and state courts to develop comprehensive case strategies that limit exposure and align with corporate objectives.

    Whitney has served as first-chair counsel at trial and in depositions, in addition to preparing for multi-week trials that resulted in favorable client outcomes.

    She maintains an active pro bono practice, regularly representing indigent clients through the Federal Pro Bono Project in the Northern District of California.

    Experience

    Whitney's experience includes representing:

    • NextGen/QSI and certain of its officers and directors in a securities class action, parallel state court fraud action, and related derivative actions, in which plaintiffs alleged that the company made false and misleading statements regarding the company’s earnings prospects
    • Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a global semiconductor company, and certain directors and officers in a securities class action filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, regarding production of, and supply for, its microprocessing products
    • Walmart and certain of its officers in high-profile securities class actions that alleged securities law violations
    • Occam Networks, which developed and provided access to telecom and Internet services, in an action against former officers and directors alleging breaches of fiduciary duty in connection with merger agreement
    • sTec, an enterprise-class technology company, and its CEO in securities fraud class actions, parallel derivative actions, and an SEC enforcement action that alleged disclosure violations and insider trading arising after earnings announcements, which the Daily Journal recognized as the Top Defense Verdict of 2014
